The dance of the chair or Raks al-Karsi is an old tradition that the Turkish brought from the Ottoman Empire long ago. In modern days, it is not performed as often as it used to be. American dancer Princess Rajah was filmed performing this during an exhibition. Here is the footage:
Not much is known about Princess Rajah, but we do know that she must have been to Egypt to learn such a dance. Here is a student of Nazla el-Adel doing it in 1990:
